Curracloe Beach
If you are looking for the perfect walk on the beach why not take a trip to Curracloe Beach in County Wexford. Only a half hour drive from Treacys Hotel Enniscorthy! The beach is known for its fine, soft sand which makes it perfect for you to walk barefoot on a hot summer’s day.
Curracloe Beach has three entrances known locally as Ballinsker, White Gap and Culletons Gap running north to south, White Gap being the largest of all of them. Curracloe Beach stretches from Ravenpoint all the way to Ballycongiar near Blackwater.
Why not take a trip to Curracloe Beach with family, friends or even a loved one! Build sandcastles with the kids, go for a swim in the sea and make memories that will last a lifetime. Curracloe beach is also a popular fishing destination and is also used by a number of surfers and windsurfers.
This beautiful stretch of white sandy beach has featured in the Hollywood Film “Saving Private Ryan” directed by the famous Stephen Spielberg.
Curracloe beach has also received an International Blue flag award in recent times which means that it is a safe place for bathing. The beach is also accompanied by sand dunes that line the beach and are accompanied by many flowers that grow during the spring and summer seasons. There is also a fabulous nature trail that runs through the dunes offering visitors to explore the local flora and fauna.
The beach also has carpark and toilet facilities available to all members of the public. Not only that, but there is also a beach wheelchair that can be used free of charge at White Gap, pre-booking is highly recommended for this. The boardwalk at Ballinesker is best for wheelchairs and is known to be nearly flat.
Please note that lifeguards are also on site at White Gap during the summer months.
