The stunning beauty of the Hook Peninsula provides the backdrop for Loftus Hall, a large mansion house in County Wexford. Built on the site of the original Redmond Hall, the mansion has a haunting backstory and is the ideal destination for a spooky outing.

In 1870, John Henry Wellington Graham Loftus (the fourth Marquess of Ely) demolished the old Redmond Hall and built the present Loftus Hall over its foundations. A three storey non-basement mansion, Loftus Hall was bought in 1917 by the Sisters of Providence and turned into a convent. In 1983 it was purchased by Michael Devereau, who reopened it as the short-lived Loftus Hall Hotel.

In more recent times, the hall has become known as a haunted house, with a popular tour highlighting its gruesome and colourful past. The entire townland of Loftus Hall, including the building itself, can be overlooked from the nearby Hook Lighthouse.
